Towards A Productive Working Environment

by Kristin Michelle

More often than not, employees tend to get distracted by so many things. According to studies, an employee is at the very least distracted for two hours. There are many sources of distraction such as e-mails, surfing the internet, cellular phones, etc. They hamper work productivity and efficiency. However, the number one distraction for most is conversation. Talking is inevitable, but if the talking reached the point of pointlessness, the work slows down. Many employers think that partitions and walls can remove those distracting conversations, but they are actually making a big mistake.

Fighting Distraction on the Offense

Today, many employees are forced to work in smaller offices, which makes them more vulnerable from talking. Companies tend to receive losses just because the boundary between the professional and personal life is starting to wither away. Having someone distracting a phone call or having people over hearing what you're talking about is indeed annoying. These conversations must stay private and should always be kept. Customers simply wants to feel that the customer care representatives are focusing to their clients, and not to everybody else.

If this kind of distraction and/or lack of speech privacy concern you, sound masking may be the answer. Sound masking technology paved way for more peaceful and productive offices. Employees, employers, and companies can benefit to these amazing and very affordable machines. If nothing else, think of the cost of inaction!

You can't remove all the distractions, but you can fight on the offense by using a sound masking system. It's an inexpensive method and definitely less aggressive (not to mention hypocritical) than yelling at your co-workers to be quieter. There's little to lose...you've lost too much time already!
