Mini Keyboard: Time for the Healthier Alternative
Recent advances in technology has made it possible for us to fit large quantities of virtually everything in small spaces. Take computer keyboards, for example. The advent of the mini keyboard has resulted in a wider workspace for employees of companies who espouse the use of these modern marvels. Another of its features gives your hands a needed break from wear and tear associated with long-term employment of conventional keyboards.
While the basic computer keyboard is functional, its user's comfort is hardly in its repertoire of features. There are deviations, of course. Major keyboard manufacturers have in recent years come out with full-scale keyboards with wrist rests and still others that are ergonomic. Mini keyboards, however, have the best of both worlds with form and function at its disposal. From its inception the standard keyboard's smaller brethren is ergonomically friendly.
Speaking of comfort level, check whether your computer keyboard and its position relative to you and the monitor hamper your mobility in some way. Do your fingers, hands and wrists feel stiff during and after using the keyboard? Does the keyboard allow your body to stay upright instead of stooping or slouching? If you answer in the affirmative to these questions then you may need to replace your standard keyboard with a mini keyboard, which is more ergonomic and can be better positioned on your desk.
Another important aspect that mini keyboards have in common is the touchpad. A touchpad is like the mouse; it's a pointing device that translates the movement of your fingers to that of the cursor on a computer screen. It is often seen on laptops as an alternative to a mouse. The reason why manufacturers of this kind of keyboard includes the feature is to limit your hands' movement from keyboard to mouse and vice-versa, thus lessening the strain on your hands, wrists, arms, elbows and shoulders.
There are also mini keyboards that have trackballs instead of touchpads. A trackball resembles a mouse that has been turned over with the ball protruding from the top rather than the bottom. The two devices are similar in the sense that both track the movement of a ball on vertical and horizontal axes to move the computer cursor or pointer.
The most advanced and certainly the most versatile of this type of keyboard is the mini wireless keyboard. Imagine all the functions of a standard computer keyboard coupled with the features of its mini version. It is ergonomic, making sure your fingers do all the work without straining your hands and wrists. It is portable, meaning you can place it anywhere on your desk and take it to different locations. And it is functional, doing everything a traditional keyboard can do and more.
A lot of stress and injuries resulting from prolonged computer use can be traced to the keyboard. Fortunately, technology offers us a solution, the mini keyboard. Ergonomic does not even begin to describe this modern marvel. The mini wireless keyboard takes the device to a whole new level of versatility and portability.
