Office sound masking can save you valuable time at work

by Frank Barnett

Working people know that time is a precious resource. Indeed the phrase "making up for lost time" is an oxymoron as once time is lost, that is it. We only have so many hours to go about a work day, and despite all the necessary elements required to get to and from work, being productive is an essential means of saving time.

However, being productive at work hinges on a few factors, your condition and mind set are very important, as is the level of distractions. But probably the worst enemy to productive time use normally seen in the office is noise. Distractions can eat up time faster than you think.

When you are in a state of focus, or concentration, it is actually quite a delicate predicament, unless you work in a hole devoid of other people, chances are ambient office sounds are in plentiful supply. Once you lose your train of thought, this is when you also begin to lose time. This is where office sound masking comes in.

Office sound masking can give you a little peace of mind when at work. They are intelligent devices that can tune out ambient office noise by introducing its own low level background noise. This renders the otherwise distracting sound near unintelligible as such; people will not get distracted as the brain fails to register the full range of the distraction.

What people don't realize is that companies lose a lot of money every year due to distractions. This may not necessarily include breaks. They have gotten to a point in which it is now financially calculable how much is lost due to derailed thoughts. Lost time is hard to recover and think how much time can be saved when you can work in an atmosphere conducive to productivity. Office sound masking is the solution to all the lost time and wasted money. By making the office a place where productivity is encouraged and distractions reduced, work can progress efficiently and time and money saved rather than lost.

Noisy distractions are costing companies a lot of money in the form of wasted time but can be immediately solved with office sound masking. Even the most concentrated mind will lose its deep seated focus when put up against a funny comment, a loud noise or the latest office gossip. Sound masking can give you the peace of mind critical for productive work and in return you save time and money.
